Rossnaree River Walk, Car park, Giltown, Meath, None, Ireland.

Discover the secret world of Ireland'd bats on this guided evening walk.

As the sun sets, we'll explore how these remarkable mammals hunt, navigate, and thrive in our local landscapes, and why they're such an important part of a healthly ecosystem.

Using handheld bat detectors, you'll get the chance to hear bats in real time as they forage overhead. We'll look for common Irish species such as the Soprano and Common Pipstrelle, and (if we're lucky) the Daubenton's bat skimming over the river.

Whether you're a seasoned wildlife enthusiast or just curious about what comes out after dark, you will leave with a new appreciation for these fascinating, and often misundersttod, creatures.

Important Information

  • We will be walking in the dark
  • Children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration
  • Weather dependent: updates will be provided
  • Wear comfortable shoes for walking
  • Bats are wild animals and sightings vary
